  for over a year i have been repeating the fact that the watchtower is misrepresenting the early christians in their "should you believe in the trinity" to my jw co-worker.

  i tell him that i can't find their references as well as i have over 20 references that say the complete opposite.

  time and time again i have spoken about this and i get dismissed in a number of ways.

  How Often Do You Pray?

  i know this might sound silly, but one of the most annoying things i find about my mom being a jw is how often she prays.

  normally, i would never criticize someone for praying to god, but she prays in such a way that makes me angry for some reason.

  Yes, we all have had different experiences. Have you ever asked yourself the question "why".

  Do I pray? YES

  Do I get everything I ask for? NO, but then again, I've quit thinking of the Creator as Santa Clause, and I'm learning to really communicate. Since then, it's become an amazing experience - and authentic.

  Are Mormons even [slightly] discouraged from attending any college other than BYU? I know that mormonism is taught as part of the curriculum at BYU, but I always wondered if they pushed BYU first, and then other colleges as a last resort - such as if moving to Utah would pose a financial burden.

  I've many Mormon friends and have attended their church many times. First of all, higher education is a big deal with them.... doesn't matter where you go, just try and get one. Secondly, yes BYU is predominately Mormon and yes if you're Mormon you have to take religion classes before you graduate, but that can be Old Testament, New Testament, whatever. If you're not Mormon, you are not required to take a religion class. Additionally, only some Mormons want to go to BYU, most others have their own plans like any other 17-18 year old..... they go where they want to go. They not directed to BYU. It's very difficult to get into BYU, very competitive. One of my friends who went to BYU, return to California after only a year. He liked Utah and the experience (especially the skiing) but wanted to attend UCLA. It was no big deal.

  should they be impeached for the iraq war?

  if you google the words impeach, bush, and cheney, you will get about 1,600,000 hits.

  even on the radio there is talk about the need to start the impeachment process.

  sure, why not divide the country again for another 30 years like the vietnam war did..... the election of 2008 will take care of bringing in another administration.

  i have an aunt who is a witness.

  she adopted my 2 kids years ago.

  the kids are now 16 and 17 and have been shunned by the kingdom hall because they spoke up and said they do not want to be witnessess.

  Even if you do not have the means to help the kids out, you can be a support system to them. Sometimes that is all they need before they leave the house for good.

  I agree.... you would be a great support system. Besides, they're now at the age they could get part-time jobs, even be emancipated by the law. Whatever you do, do it from a 'positive' point of view..... leave the negativity to the JWs... your kids (and others) will see the difference. Even when discussing religion, take it from the 'there's a big world out there with many wonderful points of view", and "your life is just beginning, always move forward, not backward"...."there are others that have been in your shoes and they've been successful and live great lives".....etc., etc.
